The story behind the board

A word game inspired by the words between languages.

Linguicity began with a simple frustration: having the letters for a real word, but not being allowed to play it because it belonged to another language.

A word that did not fit the game

While playing a traditional single-language word game, Linguicity founder Carder Starr saw that the letters on his rack could form a real word from another language. The board had room for the word. The rules did not.

That small moment led to a bigger question: why should a word game stop at the border of one dictionary? Linguicity grew from the idea that players should be able to bring the languages they know, learn, or love onto the same board.

Language as connection, not a test

Linguicity is made for people who enjoy words and the connections between them: multilingual friends, heritage-language speakers, lifelong learners, families, and anyone curious about what another language can add to a familiar game.

Each turn offers a reason to use one language, and a change on the board can bring another into play. Linguicity makes room for languages learned at school, shared at home, or revisited after time away. It is not a course and it does not measure fluency.

Your languages do not have to live on separate boards.
