Gameplay Mechanics

Language-of-Play (LoP)

• The LoP dictates which language words must be formed in on your turn.

• Landing on a Change Language (CL) square or using a Change Language PowerUp can shift the LoP to another selected language, disrupting your opponent’s strategy. The current LoP is always highlighted (example above: EN - English).

Tiles and Scoring

• Each player begins with a rack of 7 tiles drawn from the alphabets of their selected languages—including accented characters like ñ, ö, and ä -- if they are in the languages selected for that particular game.

• Scoring includes letter and word multipliers: DL, TL, DW, TW, and the first word must cross the center star — classic yet strategic.

PowerUps

• Change Language: Switch LoP before playing to mazimize your score and to outwit your opponent.

• Swap: Swap your tile rack without losing a turn.

Translations, Levels, and Progression

• Levels reflect cumulative word points, your historical high score remains visible.

Game Modes

• Solo Play: Challenge the AI in three difficulty tiers—Beginner Bliss (easy), World Wanderer (slightly harder), or Linguistic Luminary (not much harder).

• Two-Player Mode: Play against friends or random opponents. First, you select overlapping or common languages and optionally disable any languages you prefer not to use.

“Very cool concept. I initially assumed I could choose words from any selected language — esentially a free for all, … but in fact I have to play a word from a particular language each turn. There are spaces marked CL on the board where I can change the language for my opponent…. but which also means that they can change for me!”
